Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (TIA), established in 1932, was the first airport in the state of Kerala, India. Today it serves as the gateway to the southern tip of India, including the southern districts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, making it the second busiest airport in the state.
Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Limited (TIAL) operates two terminals – Terminal 1, which is situated near the famous Sankhumukham beach, manages domestic flight operations while Terminal 2, which is in Chackai, manages international flight operations. In 2024-25, the airport saw 4.9 million passengers pass through with a total of 33,316 aircraft movements.
Spread over an area of 650 acres (280 ha), the airport is approximately 3.7 km due west from the city centre, 3 km from Sri Padmanabha Swamy Temple, 14 km from Kovalam beach, 13 km from Technopark, 16 km from the Adani Vizhinjam International Seaport and 89 km from Kanyakumari.
